Dhanbad’s 3 cricket umpires qualify for JSCA panel

Dhanbad, July 31: Three cricket umpires of Dhanbad district, Sangeet Bhattacharya, Rewant Lal and Manishankar Jha qualified for the state panel of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA).

Giving this information, JSCA executive member Binay Kumar Singh said that all trio of Dhanbad have qualified in the written examination for state panel umpire which was held in Jamshedpur after a two-day workshop.

“In the examination, the examinees who scored more than 80 per cent in the competition (examination) were declared qualified for state panel umpiring,” said Binay Kumar Singh.

District senior and junior-level matches

Sangeet Bhattacharya (32) and Rewant Lal (32) have been conducting district senior and junior-level matches for the last 14 and 13 years respectively. Manishankar Jha (28) has been officiating merely for one year.

JSCA executive member Binay Kumar Singh, who is also a former secretary of the Dhanbad Cricket Association (DCA), said that qualifying three umpires will make a rich pool of state-level umpires in Dhanbad district. “All trio has ample chance and potentiality to go high level in umpiring,” said Singh.

At present, the Dhanbad district has only four state panel umpires, including Dharmendra Kumar, Om Prakash Roy, Nishant Pathak and Manoranjan Kajilal.

Office secretary of DCA Mahesh Gorai when inquired off said that two of them have been conducting senior and junior level official matches for over a decade but no protest or complaint was lodged against them in any match ever.

Senior most district umpire Dharmendra Kumar while hailing the success of trio umpires said all trio has ample chance provided, they concentrate on technical and practical study.  Sangeet has a strong study. Rewant has reached such level with his hard work while Manishankar will get time but has potentiality for high level,” said Dharmendra Kumar.

DCA president Manoj Kumar, general secretary Uttam Biswas, Balashankar Jha, Neeraj Pathak and Om Prakash Roy have congratulated the trio.
