Ranchi, April 21: Amid the evolving political situation in Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has stepped up efforts to strengthen its organisation from the booth to the district level. A key meeting of senior leaders and party functionaries was held at the Chief Minister’s residence in Ranchi on Tuesday, chaired by JMM Central President and Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Focus on Booth-Level Strengthening
During the meeting, Soren stressed that the role of the organisation has become more important in the current political climate. He directed leaders to reinforce party structures at the booth, panchayat, ward, block, and district levels to ensure effective grassroots presence.

Concerns Over SIR and Census
Detailed discussions were held on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the upcoming Census. Party leaders described the Census as a critical issue linked to social and political representation, emphasising accurate enumeration of tribal communities, indigenous groups, backward classes, and marginalised sections.
On the SIR, leaders expressed concern over possible political misuse and asserted that democratic rights of citizens must be protected.
Call for Public Outreach and Awareness
The party decided to launch awareness campaigns to educate people on voter lists, the Census, and related issues. Soren urged workers to remain actively engaged with the public and ensure that government welfare schemes reach the last mile.
The Chief Minister also called for making municipal and metropolitan committees more active, stating that strengthening the organisation is as important as governance.
On the first day, representatives from 12 districts, including Sahebganj, Dumka, Godda, Pakur, Deoghar, and West Singhbhum, attended the meeting. Leaders from the remaining districts will participate in discussions on the second day.
The meeting was conducted by Central General Secretary and Spokesperson Vinod Kumar Pandey. Among those present were MP Vijay Hansda, MLA Stephen Marandi, MLA Hemlal Murmu, and Central Secretary Pankaj Mishra.
