Ranchi, July 27: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has issued a notice to former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Chairman L. Khyangte, directing him to appear for questioning on July 28 in connection with the investigation into alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, including the 14th JPSC Civil Services Examination.

The summons comes as the CID intensifies its probe into the alleged recruitment scam, which has already led to multiple raids, arrests and the seizure of key documents linked to the examination process.

CID conducted raids at Khyangte’s residence, JPSC office

Earlier, the CID searched Khyangte’s official residence on Kanke Road and his office chamber at the JPSC headquarters. The operation lasted nearly five hours, during which investigators examined official records and questioned the former JPSC chairman.

Searches were also carried out at the JPSC headquarters and the office of TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL), the agency responsible for conducting the examination.

OMR sheets, digital evidence seized

During the investigation, the CID seized recruitment-related documents, OMR sheets and digital evidence from computers at the JPSC office. Investigators also recovered records related to the examination process from the TDPL office as part of the ongoing probe.

The agency has also arrested Arvind Mandal from the Poraiyahat area of Godda district. He is said to be an associate of Abhay Tiwari, the TDPL marketing manager who was arrested earlier in the case.

Khyangte denies wrongdoing

Speaking to a private news channel after the raids, L. Khyangte denied any involvement in alleged irregularities in the recruitment process.

He maintained that all decisions taken during his tenure as JPSC chairman were in accordance with established rules. He said that if any irregularity had occurred at any stage of the recruitment process, it should be investigated impartially and strict action should be taken against those found responsible.
