Labour Party has won 410 seats so far
Just as the exit polls predicted, the Labour Party has achieved a landslide victory. After a long wait of 14 years, the Labour Party is set to form the government in the country. As per the results so far, the Labour Party has won 410 seats, while the ruling Conservative Party has only secured 119 seats. Results for 641 out of 650 seats have been announced.
In a media address, Starmer stated that a wave of change has begun, and honestly, this is a transformed Labour Party ready to serve the country.
After the party’s defeat, Sunak went to Buckingham Palace to meet King Charles and formally resigned from the position of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Era of change has begun: Starmer
Starmer (61) told his supporters at a victory rally that the era of change has now begun.
In his victory speech, Starmer stated that the goal of the past four and a half years has been to create a transformed Labour Party ready to serve the nation.
Following the crushing election defeat in December 2019, the Labour Party’s impressive and victorious turnaround is now largely credited to Starmer. He is working to reshape his party’s relationship with British Indians, who were affected by the alleged anti-India stance on Kashmir during the tenure of the former leader Jeremy Corbyn.
