Ranchi, Aug 14: The Junior Doctors Association (JDA) strike continued in Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi on the second successive day today in protest against the rape and murder of Kolkata RG Kar Medical College Hospital trainee doctor.

Junior doctors of  5 other medical colleges of the state, including MGMMCH Jamshedpur, SNMMCH Dhanbad, PJMCH Dumka, SBMCH Hazaribagh and MMCH Palamu have extended full support to RIMS JDA and took out candle march in protest against the incident.

RIMS JDA president Dr Ankit Kumar and vice-president Dr Abhishek Hansda said that since all demands of Kolkata agitating doctors have not been accepted, the strike in RIMS will continue.

IMA’s JDN extends support to JDA strike

IMA state wing’s Junior Doctors Network (JDN) has also expressed solidarity with the strike of the JDA in RIMS. JDN president Dr Vikash Kumar (RIMS) and secretary Dr Raghvendra Kumar (MGMMCH) said that JDN has extended full support to the strike of JDA and the strike will continue till CBI takes charge of the case completely.

Doctors in candle march at SBMCH Hazaribagh

Since the strike has badly affected OPD services in RIMS, the JDN has asked the management to increase the number of doctors in emergency so that maximum number of patients can be attended. “Poor patients from far away remote areas come for treatment. So, we have requested RIMS authorities to deploy more doctors in emergency so that maximum of them can be covered”, said Dr Vikash.

5 medical colleges take out candle march

Five medical colleges on Tuesday evening braving heavy rains took out a candle march in protest against the Kolkata incident and in support of RIMS JDA.

A massive candle march was taken out at Jamshedpur where around 500 doctors of MGMMCH, Tata Main Hospital, Tata Motor’s Hospital, IMA office bearers and members joined and supported the RIMS JDA strike. JDN secretary Dr Raghvendra said that senior faculty members of MGMMCH also participated in the march.

Doctors in candle march at MMCH Daltonganj

At SNMMCH Dhanbad, senior residents and junior doctors under senior faculty member Dr CS Suman took out a candle march.  IMA state president Dr AK Singh, district president Dr BN Gupta, secretary Dr Rakeshinder Singh also participated in it and protested the Kolkata incident. Dr Nikhil Drolia, Dr Ganesh Kumar Dr Rishabh Rana, Dr Ranvijay, Dr Sumit Agrawal also participated.

Doctors of SBMCH Hazaribagh and  MMCH Palamu also took out a candle march in protest against the incident.
