Jamshedpur, Sept 23: Despite the gradual withdrawal of the southwest monsoon in other parts of the country, Jharkhand is set to witness heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the coming days.

According to the forecast of India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain is likely over southern and adjoining central parts of the state on September 23 and 24, while thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are expected at isolated places across the state from September 23 to 26.
A low-pressure area over the northeast Bay of Bengal is moving west-northwestwards and may further intensify.

Another fresh low-pressure system is expected to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal around September 25, likely developing into a depression and crossing the South Odisha–North Andhra Pradesh coasts around September 27.
Meanwhile, intermittent rains continued in several parts of southern Jharkhand since yesterday.
Normal life was affected in Jamshedpur and several other places. Most places today woke up to overcast condition accompanied by intermittent rains.
Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions against lightning and gusty winds.
