Jamshedpur, Jan 9: The minimum temperature dipped further across Jharkhand due to the strong flow of the northwesterly winds blowing from the northern parts of the country.

Lohardaga shivered at 3.2 degrees Celsius while Hazaribagh notched 3.7 degrees Celsius.

Chatra, Ramgarh, Khunti and several other places experienced bone-biting with the mercury hovering between 4-6 degrees Celsius today.

The minimum temperature further dropped to 7 degrees Celsius in capital Ranchi today while intense cold also prevailed in Palamu region with Daltonganj today witnessing night reading of 6.2 degrees Celsius.

According to Met statistics, Bokaro today recorded a minimum temperature of 8.1 degrees Celsius while steel city Jamshedpur recorded minimum temperature of 10.3 degrees Celsius.

The minimum reading witnessed an abrupt fall in Dhanbad where the automatic weather station today recorded 8.8 degrees Celsius while temple town Deoghar today recorded a minimum temperature of 6.7 degrees Celsius.

Other places across Jharkhand also experienced plummeting night temperature.

Satellite pictures indicated the trough in middle and upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 Km above mean sea level running roughly along Long. 93°E to the north of Lat. 26°N.

A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from January 10.
