Monsoon to remain active over Jharkhand till July 6

Jamshedpur, July 4: Monsoon activity over Jharkhand has picked up pace, with widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms observed across most parts of the state.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts indicating the likelihood of heavy rainfall and gusty winds in several regions over the next three days.

July 4 (Friday): Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in North-Central Jharkhand and adjoining Southern and Eastern districts. Thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by gusty winds (30-40 kmph), are expected at isolated places across the state.

July 5 (Saturday): Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast over Northern Jharkhand. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) may continue in scattered locations.

July 6 (Sunday): North-Central and adjoining Southern & Eastern districts are again likely to witness heavy rainfall at isolated locations. Thunderstorm and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) may persist in isolated pockets of the state.

Synoptic Overview

The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently passes through Bikaner, Sheopur, Khajuraho, Daltonganj, Digha, and extends east-southeastward to the northeast Bay of Bengal.

An upper air cyclonic circulation is persisting over North Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal between 1.5 Km and 5.8 Km above mean sea level, tilting southwestward with height.

Additionally, a trough extends from the northeast Arabian Sea to northwest Bay of Bengal, crossing Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the aforementioned cyclonic circulation zone.

Rainfall & Temperature Update

Monsoon remained normal over the state.

Chaibasa (West Singhbhum) recorded heavy rainfall of 69.6 mm in the past 24 hours.

The highest maximum temperature of 34.1°C  was recorded at Godda, while the lowest minimum temperature was 21.7°C at Latehar on Thursday.
