Mumbai, Nov 14: In relation to the Mahadev betting app, Mumbai Police have filed charges against 32 individuals, including Mohit Burman, the chairman of Dabur and Gaurav Burman, the director of Dabur, under several fraud and gambling-related sections.
The First Information Report (FIR) states that, of the alleged accused in the Mahadev betting app, Mohit Burman is listed at number 16 and Gaurav Burman is at number 18.
In this instance, 31 individuals are named in the FIR, with an unidentified person listed as number 32. Based on a complaint filed by social activist Prakash Bankar, the FIR was filed on November 7.
In the FIR, actor Sahil Khan is listed as accused number 26. It is stated that Sahil Khan operates a different online betting app that is connected to Mahadev’s. Sahil Khan is facing accusations of purportedly operating an additional betting application associated with the Mahadev online betting app.
“Sahil is not only accused of promotion but of earning huge profits by operating the app,” the FIR said.
Previously, Sahil Khan was featured in a video from a party associated with an online betting app in Dubai. Initially perceived as a promotional video, Sahil Khan now faces heightened challenges as his name surfaces in the FIR as an app operator. This case has been filed in connection with the operation of a betting application called Khiladi.
According to the details provided, social activist Bankar alleges that individuals have been swindled amounting to Rs 15,000 crore.
The police have filed a case under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code.
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) is investigating the Mahadev Book Online Betting APP syndicate in which the promoters of this betting syndicate are allegedly sitting abroad and remotely running thousands of panels across India with the help of their friends and associates.
As per the ED, it has apprehended four individuals and confiscated proceeds of crime exceeding Rs 450 Crore. Additionally, the agency has lodged a prosecution complaint against 14 accused individuals.
