Naxal-affected states drop to 5, districts down to 11: Junior Home Minister informs Lok Sabha

New Delhi, Dec 9: The Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday that the impact of Naxalism has reduced sharply over the past decade.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, stated that the number of districts affected by Left Wing Extremism has fallen dramatically from 126 to just 11, while the count of affected states has declined from 10 to 5.

Rai highlighted that this decline is not only due to enhanced security measures but also through focused development initiatives.

In these regions, the government has established schools, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), Kaushal Vikas Kendras, banks, and ATMs to promote socio-economic growth alongside improved law enforcement.

This comprehensive approach, combining security and development, has been credited with significantly reducing the reach and influence of Naxal activities across the country.
