Jamshedpur, Aug 18: Netaji Subhas University observed Anti-Ragging Week from August 12–18, under the leadership of its Anti-Ragging Committee.
In line with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC), the initiative aimed at fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students.
The week-long campaign highlighted the university’s commitment to UGC directives and its zero-tolerance policy towards ragging.
The week commenced with an inaugural address by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Prabhat Kumar Pani, who emphasized empathy, unity, and the importance of building a nurturing campus environment.
“Ragging is a violation of human dignity. At NSU, we stand united to eliminate this malpractice through education and awareness,” he remarked.

Highlights of the Week
Awareness Rally: Students and faculty members took part in a campus-wide rally, raising slogans against ragging and holding placards.
Oath Ceremony: Hundreds of students pledged to uphold respect and integrity in their interactions and to stand against ragging.
Workshops and Seminars: Experts, including legal professionals, psychologists, and alumni, conducted sessions on the legal, psychological, and social impact of ragging.
Poster & Essay Competitions: Students creatively highlighted the harmful effects of ragging and the benefits of a ragging-free campus.
Short Film Screening: A short film depicting the trauma of ragging victims was screened to deepen student understanding of its consequences.

Prof. Nazim Khan, Dean of Administration, reiterated the university’s vision during the program, stating: “Every student has the right to study in a fear-free environment. Organizing Anti-Ragging Week is part of our firm commitment to creating awareness and ensuring a respectful campus culture. Mutual respect and harmony are the cornerstones of a progressive educational institution.”
The university’s Anti-Ragging Committee and Student Welfare Cell played a pivotal role in organizing and supervising the activities.
The event witnessed active participation from Vice-Chancellor Prof. Prabhat Kumar Pani, Prof. Nazim Khan (Dean of Administration & Discipline), Prof. Moiz Ashraf (Controller of Examinations), Shraddha Verma (IQAC Director), Y. Jyoti (Chief Finance Officer), faculty deans, heads of departments, faculty members, and a large number of students across various disciplines.
