Auckland, August 29: New Zealand has appointed former fast-bowler Jacob Oram as their bowling coach in advance of the three-Test away series against India, in the current World Test Championship cycle.

The right-arm pacer, who will begin his role on October 7, has competed in three Cricket World Cups and four T20 World Cups, and will bring extensive experience to the New Zealand cricket team under Gary Stead’s coaching.

New Zealand will kick off their series against India with the first Test in Bengaluru from October 16-20, then proceed to play in Pune from October 24-28 and Mumbai from November 1-5.

46-year-old Oram served as the Blackcaps’ bowling coach during the recent T20 World Cup in the Americas and previously held a similar position with the New Zealand women’s team during the 2022 World Cup hosted in New Zealand.

“The 229-capped international officially joins the Blackcaps staff after supporting the team as bowling coach in last year’s Test tour to Bangladesh, February’s T20I series at home against Australia, along with the recent ICC T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies,” New Zealand Cricket said in a statement.

Oram, with over 250 wickets across formats, has featured in 33 Tests, 160 ODIs, and 36 T20Is over his 11-year international career.
