Jamshedpur, April 18: The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a thunderstorm warning for multiple regions of the state over the next three days, accompanied by gusty winds and lightning activity.

Forecast Details

April 18: Thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely at isolated places across North-Eastern, South-Eastern, and adjoining Central parts of the state.

April 19: Similar weather conditions are expected to continue, affecting isolated places across the state, excluding the Western region.

April 20: Thunderstorms with slightly reduced wind speeds (30-40 kmph) are likely over isolated places across the state, again excluding Western areas.

Weather Systems in Play

Two prominent weather systems are contributing to this unstable weather pattern:

*  A trough in the westerlies, extending from Sikkim to North Odisha across West Bengal and Jharkhand, lies at an altitude between 3.1 and 5.8 Km above mean sea level.

* Another trough is present from a cyclonic circulation over East Madhya Pradesh to Gangetic West Bengal, passing through Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, and extends up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level.

Weathermen issued an appeal asking people to stay indoors during thunderstorms, secure loose objects, and follow updates from local authorities and weather agencies.
