THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also serves as the state’s finance minister, unveiled a ₹2.90 lakh crore budget for the 2025-26 fiscal, emphasizing agriculture and irrigation.

This marks the first full-fledged budget of the BJP government since coming to power last year.

Highlighting the significance of agriculture, Majhi noted that nearly 48% of Odisha’s workforce relies on farming, with 80% of the population residing in rural areas. In response, the government has allocated ₹37,838 crore for the agricultural and allied sectors, reflecting a nearly 12% increase from previous allocations.
