Daltonganj, October 4: Palamu administration is readying an alternative plan for the arrival of the Governor cum Chancellor of the Jharkhand universities, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, in case the weather plays false or foul on October 6, when the chancellor is to grace here in the Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU) in Daltonganj.
The alternative plan for the travel of the Chancellor is by road, a distance of around 175 to 178 kilometres from Raj Bhavan to the administrative building of the Nilamber Pitamber University.
The weather forecast is that rain will not be away till October 6, and if it comes, it raises the issue of visibility at the Chiyanki air strip.

There have been a couple of incidents when due to bad and inclement weather, VIPs have missed landing here by chopper.

SP and DC review travel and security arrangements
SP Reeshma Ramesan told this correspondent, “The governor’s travel plan is by chopper for October 6. However weather is playing truant. There is a forecast for rain on October 6, too.”
“In case the rains lash at, we are working on a safe and proper travel plan by road,” added the SP.
DC Sameera S and SP Reeshma Ramesan on Saturday took a detour of the venue for the convocation. Vice Chancellor Dr Prof Dinesh Kumar Singh accompanied the two top officials of the district.
There would be adequate deployment of cops and officials for the visit of the Chancellor, reminded the SP, saying “We have enough human resources.”
Scores of workmen are pressed into the job.
DC Sameera S and SP Reeshma Ramesan later visited the VC villa, where the VC Dr Prof Dinesh Kumar Singh showed up rooms and halls where the Chancellor is most expected.

Venue upgrades, parking and tree relocation measures implemented
A paver block road is coming up at the Maharishi Vishwamitra Pustakalaya Bhavan, whose building is to be inaugurated by the Chancellor.
There will be no drone flying during the visit of the VVIPs. The joint visit saw some modifications to parking in order to minimise the inconvenience to the VIPs.
Two trees are to be relocated. One is right at the entrance of the Maharishi Vishwamitra Pustakalaya Bhavan and the other is of eucalyptus at the main road. A team of forest personnel reached the trees and took down their girth.
