PM Modi attends Lakhpati Didi Sammelan in Gujarat’s Navsari

Navsari, March 8: On International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with beneficiaries of the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme in Gujarat’s Navsari district, attending the ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ at Vansi Borsi village.

During the event, he distributed Rs 450 crore in financial assistance to over 2.5 lakh women from more than 25,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Navsari MP C R Paatil were also present at the event.

The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative, launched by the Union government in 2023, recognizes women who are part of SHGs and earn at least Rs 1 lakh annually from agriculture, animal husbandry, and small industries.

Prime Minister Modi also held an inspiring dialogue, known as ‘prerna samvaad,’ with a group of these women, who shared their success stories.

During Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Gujarat today, the entire security arrangement was handled by female police officers. From the helipad to the event venue, female police personnel were responsible for ensuring the Prime Minister’s safety.

The Prime Minister had recently announced that women would manage his social media accounts on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Today, Prime Minister Modi fulfilled his promise.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi entrusted his social media accounts to six remarkable women on International Women’s Day. This unique gesture provided these women with an extraordinary platform to share their inspiring journeys, accomplishments, and struggles with the nation.

The women, representing various regions of India—South, North, East, West, and Central—include Vaishali Rameshbabu from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Dr. Anjlee Agarwal from Delhi, Anita Devi from Nalanda, Bihar, Elina Mishra from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Ajaita Shah from Rajasthan, and Shilpi Soni from Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.

While four of these women shared their individual experiences, Shilpi and Elina came together to narrate their inspiring journeys. Their fields of influence span sports, rural entrepreneurship, science, and technology, showcasing the diverse contributions of women across different sectors.
