Gorakhpur, July 1: Gorakhpur witnessed a significant moment in its educational and healthcare landscape on Tuesday as President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University in Pipri, Bhathat.
Built at a cost of ₹268 crore, the university is the first of its kind in Uttar Pradesh and aims to strengthen traditional systems of medicine in the region.
Marking the event as a turning point, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the inauguration as the dawn of a “new era of health and culture” in the state.

Taking to social media, he said the launch of the AYUSH University on the sacred land of Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath signified a transformative step in expanding healthcare services rooted in traditional wisdom.
Governor Anandiben Patel, CM Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister of State for AYUSH and Food Safety Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, and local MP Ravi Kishan Shukla were among the dignitaries present at the ceremony, which marked a major milestone in the promotion of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy education in Uttar Pradesh.
