On the occasion, priest Mangal Jhangar said that the Pind Daan rituals were carried out to ensure liberation of the President’s ancestors, strictly following religious procedures.

He added that President Murmu was also informed about the spiritual significance of Pind Daan performed in Gaya.

This was the first time that President Murmu personally performed Pind Daan in Gaya. However, documents were also shown to her indicating that her forefathers had performed the same ritual at this sacred site in the past.
