Kallang, May 29: In the opening round of the Singapore Open 2024, Indian badminton player PV Sindhu who is also a two-time Olympic medalist, defeated Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt with ease on Wednesday.

In the first-round match of the women’s singles match that lasted 44 minutes Sindhu defeated her Danish opponent 12-21 and 20-22.

Sindhu dominated the game from the outset, winning the first set 12-21. In the second set, Hojmark attempted a comeback, but Sindhu secured a 20-22 victory, advancing to the next round of the tournament.

Prior to this match, Sindhu was the runner-up in the Malaysia Masters competition which was played on May 26.

On May 26, Sindhu was defeated in the final match of the Malaysia Masters by China’s Wang Zhi Yi. The Indian shuttler lost to her Chinese opponent 21-16, 5-21, and 16-21 in the women’s singles final.
