Lucknow, July 26: Rahul Gandhi appeared in Sultanpur’s MP-MLA court this morning regarding the case involving his allegedly objectionable remarks about Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The Sultanpur court in Uttar Pradesh has set August 12 for the next hearing in the defamation case against the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
Advocate Santosh Kumar Pandey, the complainant’s attorney, reported that Rahul Gandhi refuted the accusations, asserting that he is being targeted for political motives to tarnish his image. Gandhi responded to the court’s questions and provided his statement. Evidence will be presented from the complainant’s side on August 12, 2024.

Alleged remarks made in 2018 in Bengaluru
In 2018, a defamation case was filed against Gandhi due to his purportedly objectionable comments about Amit Shah.
BJP leader Vijay Mishra filed the defamation case against Rahul Gandhi.
The complaint alleges that Rahul Gandhi made disparaging comments about Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Bengaluru on May 8, 2018.
The case was registered in the District and Sessions Court of MP-MLA Court Sultanpur on August 4, 2018. The remarks allegedly made by Rahul Gandhi occurred during an election rally in Bengaluru in the lead-up to the Karnataka elections.
