THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK
New Delhi, Feb 3: Lok Sabha’s Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi participated in the discussion on the motion of thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha. Expressing his views, he stated that there was nothing new in the address. He remarked that they were wondering how the President’s address would have been if the INDIA alliance had formed the government.
Speaking in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi claimed that PM Modi was not invited to the inauguration ceremony of US President Donald Trump. He further alleged that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar was sent to the US three times in an effort to secure an invitation for the Prime Minister, but the invitation was never received.
‘Make in India’ a Good Idea but a Failure
Rahul Gandhi acknowledged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative was a good idea but asserted that the manufacturing sector had failed to deliver results.

He clarified that he was not blaming the Prime Minister, stating that Modi had made an effort and the idea was valid, but it ultimately did not succeed. He pointed out that manufacturing in India had dropped to its lowest level in 60 years.
Referring to ‘Make in India’, he held up a mobile phone and remarked that although it might be labeled as Made in India, its parts were sourced from China and merely assembled in the country. He added that the government had focused on consumption, leading to a rise in economic inequality.

Rahul Gandhi Blames Modi and Yogi Govts for Mahakumbh Tragedy
Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of the Mahakumbh tragedy, holding Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responsible. He stated that all opposition parties in the House had a common demand—to seek answers from the government regarding the deaths in the incident. However, he alleged that their demand was ignored in Parliament.
Accusing the government of trying to hide the truth, he emphasized the need for an investigation into the lapses that led to the tragedy. He held both the Modi and Yogi governments accountable, claiming that they had put devotees’ lives at risk.
He further asserted that the country would not accept this “anti-Sanatani” politics and vowed to continue fighting against the injustice and atrocities faced by Sanatan followers at the Kumbh.
Rahul Gandhi Questions Contradictions in Statements on China
Rahul Gandhi remarked that while China had intruded and remained stationed in Indian territory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi denied it, whereas the Indian Army acknowledged the incursion.
He pointed out the contradiction, stating that while the Prime Minister dismissed claims of Chinese intrusion, the Army Chief confirmed their presence in Indian territory. According to him, China’s continued presence was a result of the failure of the “Make in India” initiative.
Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on China, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized him, stating that border issues were a serious matter and should not be misrepresented. Rijiju accused him of fabricating stories and making baseless claims.

New Names Added to Maharashtra’s Voter List
Rahul Gandhi expressed doubts over the Maharashtra election results, stating that the INDIA bloc had won the Lok Sabha elections there. He claimed that the number of new voters added to the Assembly election voter list was equivalent to the entire population of Himachal Pradesh, with 70 lakh new voters registered.
He further pointed out that more voters were added in the last five months than in the previous five years combined. Clarifying that he was not making allegations but merely stating facts, he also raised questions about the Election Commission.
SC, ST, OBC MPs in BJP hold no authority
He also targeted the BJP, stating that although the party has Dalit, OBC, and Adivasi MPs, they should remember that they constitute 50% of the population.
He alleged that these MPs have power but are not allowed to voice their opinions. According to him, OBC, SC, and ST MPs in the BJP hold no real authority.
His remarks led to strong objections from BJP MPs.
Corporates Grew, But Nation’s Development Stagnated
Rahul Gandhi claimed that India had witnessed the lowest infrastructure growth in the past 60 years and questioned what response the government would give to the youth regarding this issue. He stated that any country functions on two pillars—consumption and production. While all governments since 1990 had focused on consumption, overall national development had not taken place.
He pointed out that corporate giants like Reliance, Adani, Tata, and Mahindra had grown rapidly, yet this growth did not translate into the country’s overall progress.
Rahul Gandhi stated that he wanted to inform the youth of the country that a revolution was on the horizon. He emphasized that India was transitioning from petrol to electric motors and highlighted significant changes occurring in warfare, medical treatment, and education.

AI would depend on Chinese or American data
Rahul Gandhi highlighted the ongoing war in Ukraine while discussing advancements in technology, including robots and drones. He emphasized the growing relevance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and pointed out that AI operates on data, without which it cannot function.
He questioned which data AI would rely on, stating that India lacked its own data infrastructure. As a result, he argued, AI would ultimately depend on either Chinese or American data.
Rahul Gandhi mentioned that the Indian government had recognized the potential of the computer revolution and focused on it. The results of that vision are still visible today.
He recalled that when computers were first introduced, people laughed at the idea. He expressed respect for Vajpayee ji but noted that even he had opposed it at the time.
Unemployment Issue Remains Unresolved
Rahul Gandhi stated that he has been listening to the President’s speeches for many years, and the common theme has always been about what has been achieved. He said that this is not appropriate.
Neither the UPA nor the NDA governments have been able to address the issue of providing employment to the youth. The problem has neither been identified in the past nor has it been resolved today.
