Jaipur, Dec 15: Bhajan Lal Sharma, the chief minister-designate of Rajasthan, was sworn in as the state’s chief minister on Friday.

Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa, who were designated as Deputy Chief Ministers at the most recent BJP parliamentary party meeting, took an oath of office with Sharma.

Governor Kalraj Mishra administered the oath of office to the three.

The ceremony took place in front of the famous Albert Hall and was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), JP Nadda, other union ministers, and chief ministers from several states.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were among those in attendance at the event in Jaipur.

The swearing-in ceremony was also attended by Union Ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, as well as former Chief Minister of Rajasthan and prominent member of the Bharatiya Janata Party Vasundhara Raje. Nitin Gadkari was present at the function as well.

Bhajan Lal Sharma won from Sanganer

Bhajan Lal Sharma hails from Bharatpur, an eastern district of Rajasthan, is known to enjoy substantial support from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

He is a master’s degree holder in political science. He defeated Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Pushpendra Bhardwaj, who received 97,081 votes, to win the Sanganer assembly seat by an overwhelming margin with 145,162 votes.
