Ranchi’s Samarjeet Singh appointed jury member for Khelo India Youth Games in Bihar

Dhanbad, May 6: Samarjeet Singh, the General Secretary of the Jharkhand State Table Tennis Association (JSTTA) from Ranchi, has been appointed as a jury member for the 7th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games in Rajgir, Bihar, which commenced on May 4.

JSTTA Senior Vice-President Saket Sinha confirmed the news, stating that Singh traveled to Rajgir late Monday evening to participate in the event.

The Khelo India Youth Games, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 4, are being held at five locations across Bihar, including Patna, Rajgir, Begusarai, Gaya, and Bhagalpur.

Samarjeet Singh, a former table tennis champion from undivided Bihar and Jharkhand, has been selected as a jury member for the Rajgir leg of the games.

Singh was one of the leading players in Bihar during the 1980s and 1990s, alongside notable figures such as MV Parthasarthi (from South Bihar), Dilip Gandhi, and Dinesh Chandra Verma from Patna.

He was also part of a golden era for the sport, with former national champion V. Vishu of Bokaro Steel Limited regarded as one of the gems of the state’s table tennis history.
