THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Bengaluru, August 30: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, has announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh each to the families of 11 people who lost their lives in the stampede during the victory parade on June 4.

Along with this, the franchise also launched the ‘RCB Cares’ initiative.

In an official post on X, RCB wrote, “We lost eleven members of the RCB family. They were part of us. Part of what makes our city, our community & our team unique. Their absence will echo in the memories of each one of us.”

The statement further read, “No amount of support can ever fill the space they’ve left behind. But as a first step, and with the deepest respect, RCB has extended Rs 25 lakh each to their families. Not just as financial aid, but as a promise of compassion, unity, and ongoing care.”

Launch of RCB Cares

RCB announced that through ‘RCB Cares’ initiative, the franchise is making a long-term commitment towards meaningful action, beginning with honoring their memory. Every step forward, it said, would reflect what fans feel, expect, and truly deserve.

Stampede at Victory Event Claimed 11 Lives

On June 3, RCB created history by clinching their maiden IPL title at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Celebrations were held inside the stadium to mark the momentous occasion.

The following day, June 4, the team organized a victory parade which drew massive crowds. However, the overwhelming rush outside the stadium triggered a stampede, leading to the death of 11 people and leaving dozens injured.
