SUMAN K SHRIVASTAVA

Ranchi, January 26: Governor CP Radhakrishnan’s Republic Day speech today struck a balance in showcasing the achievements of both the Central and the State governments.

Though the governor is said to have tailored the speech composed by the Hemant Soren government, he did not say anything that could have embarrassed Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

If, on the one hand, he reiterated not to tolerate corruption in any form at any stage and stressed the need to gear up the law & order machinery effectively to control crime in the State, he lauded the Hemant Soren government’s steps on job creation, pension, electricity, tourism, sports, roads and health facilities.

75th Republic Day

Presiding over the 75th Republic Day celebrations at the Morhabadi ground, Radhakrishnan said that corruption should not be a barrier to people realising their rights and availing themselves of the government’s schemes.

Outlining that the government is taking every step to serve the people by following the Constitution’s letter and spirit, he commended the State police and paramilitary forces for controlling the Naxal menace in Jharkhand.

Lauding the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, he said that the Jharkhand government has started Birsa Sichayi Kup Yojna to expand irrigation facilities for farmers by constructing one lakh wells.

He talked about the payment of Rs. 117 extra per quintal as a bonus on the crop procurement over and above the minimum support price.

He also spoke on the PM-JANMAN launched to bring tribal communities, particularly vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGS), into the mainstream. Then, he referred to the Mukhya Mantri Jan Van Scheme and other schemes under which more than two core saplings have been planted.

Ecotourism

He outlined that the State government is creating basic infrastructure to develop ecotourism in the Palamu Tiger Project, Hazaribagh and Dalma wildlife Sanctuaries.

Health facilities

The Governor said that establishing AIIMS at Deoghar is a significant milestone for Jharkhand.

“Health infrastructure is being improved in the state, and hospitals are being equipped with life-saving drugs, testing facilities and trained human resources,” he said.

“The scheme of mobile health clinics is operational to provide services at the primitive tribe habitations. Blood storage units have been approved at the 188 Community Health Centres, and Blood separation units are being set up at the district level to ensure sufficient availability in time.

To provide a better healthcare facility, a multi-speciality hospital on PPP mode is proposed in Ranchi Smart city area,” he pointed out.

Quality education

He patted the state government for providing quality education to children. “Considering the requirement of quality education, 80 Chief Minister Schools of Excellence have been started by our state Government. Along with KGBVs, Eklavya Schools and other schools, quality education is being ensured for the children of Jharkhand,” he said.

“54 new colleges have been established to expand higher education institutes in the remote areas of our state. Out of 18 private universities based in the state, 15 universities have become operational,” he pointed out.

The Governor showcased the Hemant Soren government’s Guruji Student Credit Card Scheme, Mukhya Mantri Siksha Protsahan Yojana, and Eklavya Training Scheme.

Initiatives for industries

The Governor outlined the objectives of the Jharkhand Industrial Park and Logistic Policy -2022, The Jharkhand Electric Vehicle Policy – 2022, the IT Data Centre and BPO Investment Promotion Policy in 2023, and the Jharkhand Startup Policy.

He also talked about expanding the railway and airways network in Jharkhand. Also, he showcased the achievements of the Central government-sponsored scheme for potable water and the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The Governor referred to the PM Awas Yojana and the state government’s Abua Awas Yojna for fulfilling the dream of having a pakka house for every family.

The Governor also lauded the State government for successfully hosting the Women Asian Hockey Champions Trophy and FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers.

Jobs for locals

“The Government is determined to employ youth. The Government has made it mandatory for private companies to use 75% of their human resource from local youths.

Job fairs are being organised, and 27 thousand youth have been given an offer letter so far. Employment

process for 45000 posts in various departments of the Government is underway and likely to be completed soon.

He also referred to the Hemant Soren government’s public outreach programme, Aapki Yojana, Aapki Sarkar, Aapke Dwar programme.
