RSSDI Jharkhand’s JHCON 2026 begins in Deoghar

Deoghar, Jan 9: The three-day 5th annual conference of the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), Jharkhand chapter, JHCON 2026, began on Thursday at Meher Garden Resort, Deoghar, and the AIIMS Deoghar auditorium.

Over 300 diabetes experts participate

Organising Secretary Dr Gauri Shankar said that more than 300 national and Jharkhand-based diabetes specialists, physicians and researchers are participating in the conference. The sessions will focus on diabetes and its complications, the growing burden of the disease, modern diagnostic techniques, and advanced treatment options.

Scientific programme inaugurated at AIIMS Deoghar

On the first day, RSSDI National President Dr Anuj Maheshwari and AIIMS Deoghar Director Dr Nitin M. Gangane jointly inaugurated the scientific programme at the AIIMS Deoghar auditorium.

A Diabetes Masterclass and a Quiz Programme were also organised for students as part of the conference.

Focus on prevention and quality of life

Dr Gauri Shankar said the main objective of the conference is to promote effective diabetes prevention, develop better treatment strategies, and improve the quality of life of patients. He added that diabetes patients are expected to benefit both directly and indirectly from expert guidance.

Rising diabetes cases a concern: RSSDI president

Speaking to the media, Dr Anuj Maheshwari said the number of diabetes patients is rising steadily due to irregular dietary habits and declining physical activity. He stressed the need for mass awareness at the social level and said RSSDI is running state- and national-level awareness campaigns to tackle the growing challenge.

Those present included RSSDI Jharkhand Chapter Chairman Dr Vinay Kumar Dhandhaniya, Chairman-Elect Dr Ajay Chhabra, Secretary Dr Ajay Patwari, Organising Chairman Dr R. N. Prasad, Vice President Dr Saurabh Saha, IMA National Vice President Dr Dhanvantari Tiwari, and several other senior doctors.
