PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, August 28: The Ghatshila-based Sona Devi University began its Freshers’ Week celebrations with the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Vivekananda Auditorium on the university campus today.

The event was graced by Vice-Chancellor J.P. Mishra, who formally inaugurated the fully air-conditioned auditorium, equipped with modern facilities and seating capacity for nearly 200 people.

Addressing the students, Mishra encouraged them to bring positive changes in their mindset, remain disciplined, and stay focused on their academic pursuits.

Sharing success tips, he advised students to remain patient, practice self-discipline, take care of their health, and overcome obstacles with determination. Drawing from his own student life, he urged them to work hard consistently to achieve their goals.

University Chancellor Prabhakar Singh lauded the presence of the students in the auditorium and emphasized the institution’s responsibility in shaping their future.

He assured the students of complete support from the university, but reminded them that success requires equal cooperation from their side. Advising them to attend classes regularly, Singh encouraged students to approach their teachers freely whenever faced with difficulties.

He highlighted that discipline is the only true path to success and reminded them that success is not the final destination, but a stepping stone in life’s journey. He also spoke about Ghatsila’s golden heritage and the eminent personalities who gave the region its unique identity.

The Freshers’ Week, scheduled from August 28 to September 6, features a series of engaging programs. On the opening day, new students, dressed in traditional attire, were welcomed with warmth. The day’s theme was “Step In, Step Tall”, symbolizing growth and confidence.

Varsha from the Admission Cell gave a detailed presentation on the admission process through PowerPoint, guiding students on completing the online enrollment procedure.

The session was followed by an introductory round for the newly admitted students.

Registrar Prof. Gulab Singh Azad further motivated the students, stating that Swami Vivekananda will always remain a role model for the youth. He underlined that life is about continuous progress and urged students to nurture their talents.

He shared four guiding principles for success—Strength, Strategy, Devotion, and Skill—encouraging students to adopt them in their academic and personal journeys.

With an inspiring start, Freshers’ Week at Sona Devi University promises to offer students a blend of cultural, academic, and motivational activities in the coming days.
