Strong start for title contenders in Jharkhand Women’s Badminton League

Dhanbad, March 7: Top contenders maintained their winning streak on the opening day of the Asmita Sports Jharkhand State Women’s Badminton League, organized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). The tournament, featuring under-17 and under-19 events, began today at the Mohan Ahuja Stadium in Jamshedpur.

In the under-17 category, Ananya Singh of Ranchi, Neha Kumari of Deoghar, and Aahana Tigga of Gumla secured comfortable second-round victories.

Ananya defeated Anuska Kachhap of Jamshedpur 15-10, 15-12, while Neha Kumari triumphed over Ashtha Kumari 15-08, 15-12. Aahana Tigga dominated Kumari Sheetal of Jamshedpur with a 15-04, 15-05 win.

Tournament Inauguration and Officials’ Presence

The tournament was inaugurated by Somendra Sharma of the Sports Authority of India. He praised Jharkhand Badminton Association Secretary K. Prabhakar Rao for successfully organizing the event, which has attracted over 50 players from different districts.

The event was also graced by Gunjan Baluni, Observer from the Badminton Association of India, K. Prabhakar Rao, Chairman of Para Badminton India, and senior Tata Steel coach Vivek Sharma.

Under-17 Category:

  • Neha Kumari (Deoghar) defeated Alisha Prasad (Jamshedpur) 15-09, 15-07
  • Ahana Tigga (Gumla) beat Ashtha Kumari (Jamshedpur) 15-04, 15-08
  • Ladlee Rose (Deoghar) won against Kumari Sheetal (Jamshedpur) 15-09, 15-06
  • Anushka Kachhap (Jamshedpur) beat Kajal Singh (Jamshedpur) 15-0, 15-05
  • Ananya Singh (Ranchi) dominated Sanskriti Kumari (Jamshedpur) 15-03, 15-02
  • Shristi Suman (Deoghar) edged past Shradha Sinha (Ranchi) 15-11, 15-14
  • Kashish Rani (Ramgarh) defeated Grisha Sarkar (Jamshedpur) 15-06, 15-05
  • Ritika Kumari (Jamshedpur) overcame Asha Ekka (Jamshedpur) 12-15, 15-13, 15-12
  • Puja Kumari (Gumla) beat Alisha Priya Darshani (Jamshedpur) 15-01, 15-01
  • Annu Shristi Oraon (Latehar) won against Shristi Singh (Jamshedpur) 15-01, 15-01

  • Annu Shristi Oraon (Latehar) defeated Kashish Rani (Ramgarh) 15-12, 15-09
  • Ladlee Rose (Deoghar) beat Snikdha Bose (Jamshedpur) 15-11, 15-09
  • Ahana Tigga (Gumla) won against Anshu Bodra (Khunti) 10-15, 15-04, 15-04
  • Sara Sharma (Jamshedpur) overpowered Shradha Sinha (Ranchi) 15-01, 15-04
  • Shristi Suman (Deoghar) defeated Shabanam Aind (Khunti) 15-13, 15-04
  • Vaibhavi Srivastava (Jamshedpur) won against Neha Kumari (Deoghar) 15-04, 15-05
  • Puja Kumari (Gumla) beat Asha Ekka (Jamshedpur) 15-0, 15-05
  • Sneha Munda (West Singhbhum) triumphed over Sanskriti Kumari (Jamshedpur) 15-05, 15-04.

With a strong start on Day 1, the competition is expected to intensify as players continue their battle for the title.
