THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Patna, Sept 15: In Patna on Monday, hundreds of students staged a march towards the Chief Minister’s residence under the campaign “Mukhyamantri Awas Gherao”, pressing the Bihar government to announce fresh job vacancies ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

Though the Election Commission has not yet declared the poll dates, voting is expected around October–November.

The protesters said that for over two years no new recruitment drives have been initiated, particularly for police constable posts and other government jobs.

They demanded that the state immediately issue notifications and release the pending answer keys for the Bihar Police Sub-Ordinate Service Commission (BPSSC) and the Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC).

A delegation of students also met with an administrative official to submit their demands. Police had set up barricades to stop the march, but in some areas students managed to push past and continue their protest.

According to them, the government must act swiftly to provide clarity on vacancies before the elections begin.
