Daltonganj, July 22: There is a surplus number of ANMs (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) in the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Bishrampur.
It’s 30 ANMs here, whom the Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar Sriwastaw, during his surprise visit to this centre on Tuesday, describes as a heavy concentration of the ANMs here.
Speaking with the Jharkhand Story correspondent, Dr Sriwastaw said, “I have asked the medical officer in charge of the CHC Bishrampur, Dr Rajinder Prasad, to rationalise such a huge workforce of the ANMs here.”

Shortage in Other Health Centres Sparks Reassignment Plan
“There is such a surplus of the ANMs here while Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are starved of the ANMs. It’s a disparity. Our other peripheral government health hubs are also having an inadequate number of ANMs,” added the Civil Surgeon.
“This imbalance in the concentration of the ANMs here at the CHC Bishrampur will be rectified by way of dispatching and deploying the surplus ones in the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and other peripheral government health hubs”, declared the Civil Surgeon, who is known for his strict action no matter what comes out of it.
CHC’s Facilities Running at Full Capacity
The CHC Bishrampur is always filled with patients. Its labour room is never empty.
Similarly, its MTC (Malnutrition Treatment Centre) has full occupancy, like malnourished children undergoing treatment in each of the 6 beds in the MTC, informed the Civil Surgeon.

Ultrasound Services Await PCPNDT Registration
On being asked if this CHC provides ultra sonography imaging, to which Dr Sriwastaw said, “Ultra sound machine has come here. The wait is for its registration under the PCPNDT Act.”
The Civil Surgeon assured there would be no problem in its handling, as here there is a suitable strength of Obstetrician-Gynaecologist (OB-GYN) and other MBBS personnel. End
