Jamshedpur, Nov 16: An 18-year-old youth was fatally injured as the bike he was riding was hit by a trailer at Burmamines late on Wednesday night.

The mishap victim, Pratham Bhuiyan was admitted to the MGM Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) where he succumbed to his injury on Thursday afternoon.
Pratham’s friend Vikash Khalko who was the pillion-rider on the bike and had also sustained grievous injury is struggling for his life at MGMMCH.

Both Pratham and Vikash are residents of the Sitaramdera locality and had embarked on a ride from their homes for sipping tea at Tatanagar station — about five km away — around midnight.

According to police, as the two teenagers were negotiating a road through the Tube Company area in Burmamines, a speedily trailer hit the bikers near a roundabout, causing the duo to get flung apart.
As neither of the victims had put on helmets, they sustained grievous head injuries, leading the police to rescue them and get them admitted to the hospital immediately.
The erring trailer driver, however, managed to flee the mishap spot, leaving the vehicle abandoned.
The police have shifted the body to MGMMCH Mortuary for postmortem.
