Three Bangladeshis caught after escape from Hazaribag detention centre

Hazaribag, June 10: Three Bangladeshi nationals who had escaped from the Hazaribag district detention centre have been apprehended in West Bengal. All three are expected to be brought back to Hazaribagh by this afternoon.

The three individuals — Reena Khan alias Fina Devi, Akhtar Khushi, and Najmul — had illegally entered India without valid passports. They managed to flee from the detention centre on Monday morning, prompting an intensive manhunt by the police.

Hazaribag police confirmed their arrest today and are making arrangements for their return.

According to official records, Reena Khan was transferred from Jamtara Jail to the Hazaribag Detention Centre on February 4, 2022, followed by Akhtar Khushi on September 28, 2024, and Nazmul on March 1, 2025.

All three had been moved from different correctional facilities across Jharkhand.
