KUMUD JENAMANI

Jamshedpur, Jan 10: Three youths, including a minor, were killed and one seriously injured when the scooter they were riding rammed into a stationary dumper on the Hata–Mosabani road under Mosabani thana area, about 35 km from Jamshedpur, on Friday night.

Accident Near Union Bank Branch

The accident occurred near the Union Bank of India’s Mosabani branch at around 8 pm. Four youths were riding on the same two-wheeler at the time of the mishap.

Those killed were identified as Rohit Karmakar (23), his younger brother Samir Karmakar (17), and Raj Gope (18). All were residents of Jagannathpur village in Ghatsila.

The injured youth was identified as Rahul Karmakar, the eldest brother of Rohit.

Returning Home From Relative’s House

Police said all four were returning home from a relative’s house in Mosabani. While negotiating the poorly lit road, the scooter rider failed to notice the stationary dumper, leading to a direct collision.

The scooter was reportedly at a moderately high speed, and the impact was so severe that the two-wheeler was badly mangled, killing three riders on the spot.

The dumper had reportedly broken down and was standing on the road. Its driver had neither switched on the breakdown lights nor placed any warning signs, police said.

Police Rush Injured to Hospital

Mosabani thana Officer-in-Charge Anuj Kumar Singh reached the spot soon after the incident and rushed the injured Rahul Karmakar to a local government health facility. He was later referred to MGM Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Police recovered the bodies and shifted them to the medical college mortuary for post-mortem examination.

By late night, grieving family members reached the hospital and mortuary, as the tragic incident plunged the area into shock.
