THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Daltonganj, Sept 14: A Naxalite was killed in an encounter between the banned Naxalite organisation TSPC (TPC) and security forces in Palamu district of Jharkhand. The name of the Naxalite killed is Mukhdev Yadav. The government had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for him. This encounter took place in the forest of Manatu in Palamu district.

It is noteworthy that two police personnel were martyred in an encounter in Palamu on September 3. Mukhdev was also involved with the TPC squad in that incident. However, later, the TPC issued a press statement and called the encounter incident false.

According to the information, on Sunday, the security forces had started a big search operation targeting Commander Shashikant, who had a bounty of Rs 10 lakh. Cobra, Jharkhand Jaguar and other security forces were involved in this operation. The police team was conducting a combing operation in the forests of Manatu when the TPC militants started firing on them. The security forces retaliated immediately.

According to police officials, this operation conducted by the police on Sunday is the biggest operation against TPC to date. More than 200 soldiers have been deployed in this operation.

It is worth noting that TPC has made the border areas of Manatu, Tarhasi and Chatra of Palamu its stronghold. Shashikant’s squad comprises 8 to 10 members, which also includes the rewarded Naxalites Mukhdev Yadav and Nagina.
