Dhanbad, March 8: BIT Sindri faculty members and former students have hailed the selection of its alumnus Raj Kumar Choudhary as chairman cum managing director (CMD) of National Hydro-Electric Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited.

1983-88 batch civil engineering student

Raj Kumar Choudhary, a 1983-88 batch civil engineering branch student of BIT Sindri, has been recommended for the post of next NHPC CMD.

BIT Sindri Career Development Centre (CDC) chairman Dr Ghanshyam, hailing Choudhary’s appointment, said that this is a momentous achievement and another feather in the cap of our beloved Alma Mater, BIT Sindri.

“We are extremely proud that Chaudhary, an esteemed alumnus of our institution, has been recommended to be the next Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NHPC Limited. Chaudhary’s journey from probationary executive to reaching such a prestigious position is truly inspiring,” said Dr Ghanshyam.

BIT Director Pankaj Rai

BIT Director Pankaj Rai, BIT Alumni Association founder and present executive member Shashank Shekhar Garuryar, and senior faculty members Dr J Mahto, Dr RK Verma, Dr Arvind, Dr Amar Kumar, Dr Amar Sinha, Dr Rajiv Kumar, Dr Jitu Kumar, and J Kujur congratulated Dr Raj Kumar Choudhary on his recommendation by Public Enterprises Selection Board.

While congratulating Raj Kumar Choudhary, Shashank Shekhar Garuryar said his humble nature and outstanding engineering helped him reach the top position. He added that the BIT Sindri Alumni Association is proud of his achievement.

Choudhary is currently director (technical services)

Raj Kumar Choudhary is currently the director of technical services at NHPC and is also in charge of the director project. Two years ago, he was made executive director.

He was the director of hydropower in Bhutan. He played an instrumental role in commissioning the Kalpong HE Project, Teesta-V HE Project, and Mangdechhu HE Project, showcasing his exceptional skills and commitment to excellence.

“His remarkable achievement of completing the Kalpong HE Project 16 months ahead of schedule, despite its challenging location in the remote Andaman & Nicobar Islands, is a testament to his leadership and determination,” said Dr Ghanshyam.
