New Delhi, Nov 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing a rally in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh Sunday took a dig at the Congress party, saying that two of its senior leaders were fighting to establish their sons and capture the party organisation in the state, reports The Indian Express.
“The Congress is not contesting polls in the state, but its two big leaders are fighting with each other,” PM Modi said.
Recently, a video surfaced showing Kamal Nath, saying that Digvijaya Singh was handling ticket distribution and that supporters of Virendra Raghuvanshi, who were angry at Raghuvanshi not getting a ticket, should “tear his (Digvijaya’s) as well as his son (Jaivardhan Singh’s) clothes” to vent their anger.
Singh and Nath cleared the air over the video by sharing a dias at the party’s manifesto launch on October 17.
Modi, meanwhile on Sunday, reiterated the significance of the extension of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana’ for five years. “I have come out of poverty; I don’t have to read in books what poverty is. I can feel the pain of the poor. Therefore, your son, your brother has made a big decision in his mind that when the ‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana’ is completed in December, we will guarantee free ration for the next five years,” Modi stated.
At a rally in Durg on Saturday, Modi had said the government will extend for five years the free ration scheme covering 80 crore poor people.
The Prime Minister underscored the proactive measures taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasising that the government ensured that the poorest segments of society did not face food shortages by providing free rations.
“During the Covid-19 pandemic, we did whatever was required to save the people of our country. We ensured that poorest of the poor do not suffer from food shortage. That’s why we gave free rations to people,” he said.
PM Modi also took the opportunity to contrast the BJP’s initiatives with the Congress, accusing the latter of neglecting tribal welfare over several decades. He asserted that the BJP had established a separate ministry for Adivasis, while the “Congress did not do anything for tribals during five-six decades after Independence.”
Moreover, he highlighted the “absence of major scandals or scams” during the BJP’s governance, asserting that the funds saved from these irregularities are now being directed towards supporting the rights and needs of the impoverished.
“Before 2014, each scam of Congress used to be worth lakhs of crores, now there are no scams in the BJP government. The money that we have saved for the rights of the poor is now being spent on the ration of the poor. This is the biggest difference between the scammer Congress government and the BJP government…,” he said.
Regarding the looming elections, PM Modi expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects, citing the people’s trust in the party’s commitment to governance and development. “It is the guarantee of the people that BJP is going to win,” he affirmed.
“Our Madhya Pradesh needs continuity in good governance and development. The entire state says if there is BJP, there is trust, if there is BJP, there is development, if there is BJP, there is better future,” the Prime Minister added.
