Daltonganj police crack school theft case; locals harass lady principal for lodging FIR

Daltonganj, June 11: The Town police cracked a theft case committed in the government middle school at Shivala Road on the intervening night of June 7/8.

The school opened on June 8 and the theft was detected the same day by the principal of the school Rekha Rani Gupta. 

Rs 10,000 and a tab stolen

The unidentified miscreant had stolen cash worth 10,000 rupees and one tab. The school’s almirah was broken.

Rekha Rani Gupta lodged an FIR with the Town police station on June 8.

From here began the trouble for Rekha Rani Gupta for lodging the FIR as the Town police had immediately swung into action.

Police action irks locals

 The police began to pick up the dubious elements and that irked the locals there. They thought the school principal had put them in trouble.

These locals began to harass Rekha Rani Gupta as to how she lodged the FIR following which police have mounted pressure on them.

Rekha Rani Gupta tried to convince the locals that the theft was committed in a government school and that she was duty-bound to lodge the criminal case. Gupta is to retire this June 30.

 A man in sheer anger stormed into the school threatening Rekha Rani Gupta for her rashness to lodge the FIR. 

Police recover tab

However, it was the Town police that acted most professionally. 

Inspector of police cum officer in charge of the Town police station Deobrata Poddar said we arrested one Raja Kumar, 19, and the case unfolded faster. 

Raja Kumar was not a named accused at all in the FIR, added Poddar. 

On the leads of Raja Kumar, the stolen tab was recovered. 

Poddar said the stolen cash worth 10, 000 rupees was spent. 

Police officers said it was all the handiwork of the petty drug addict or drug peddler who for any amount of money can take to crime. 

Raja Kumar has been booked under sections 461 and 379 of the IPC. He was remanded in judicial custody today. 

About persons who had harassed Rekha Rani Gupta the police officer said preventive measures under section 107 would be drawn against such persons for causing trouble to a government servant doing the official duty and job.
