Jharkhand Weather: Monsoon covers entire state, heavy rain likely in isolated places

Jamshedpur, June 29: The southwest monsoon has covered the entire state, said weathermen today.

Monsoon had set in over Jharkhand on June 21 after a delay of six days. Due to its slow movement, it took about a week to cover the entire state.

According to weathermen, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over western and adjoining central parts of the state today.

A forecast of heavy rainfall was also issued for isolated places over north-western and north-eastern parts of the state on Sunday and Monday.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon was passing through Jaisalmer, Churu, Bhiwani, Delhi, Aligarh, Kanpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Kheri, Moradabad, Dehradun, Una, Pathankot and Jammu.

Conditions are likely to become favourable for further advance of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of western Rajasthan; remaining parts of Haryana, entire Chandigarh and remaining parts of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu during the next 2-3 days.

Synoptic Features

Under the influence of cyclonic circulation over northwest and west-central Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha coast.

An associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is likely to move northwestwards during the next 24 hours.

A trough runs from cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan to a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha coast across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha extending up to 1.5 Km above the mean sea level.
