Jamshedpur, July 2:  A few isolated places in northern and central Jharkhand are expected to witness heavy rain today, predicted IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely to take place at isolated places over the state today.

The cyclonic circulation over eastern Jharkhand and its neighbourhood was lying over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

A trough was running from north Punjab to Mizoram across north Haryana, north Uttar Pradesh, north Bihar with cyclonic circulation over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Assam at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.

Rainfall activity during the past 24 hours brought down the rain deficit to 57%.

Weathermen are hopeful of a good spell of monsoon rain in July, the second and peak monsoon month.

In its long-range forecast, IMD New Delhi had earlier predicted above-normal rainfall in the country in the month of July.

Jharkhand is also expected to reap its boon. If things remain favourable Jharkhand is expected to experience over 350 mm of rain in July.
