Jharkhand Weather: Heavy rain forecast in isolated places today

Jamshedpur, July 5: Heavy rain is likely to take place in isolated places of northeastern and central parts of Jharkhand today, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre today.

Monsoon activity was normal in Jharkhand during the past 24 hours. Several places recorded heavy showers while others recorded moderate rain.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was passing through Bikaner, Orai, Churu, Purulia and thence east-southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.

A cyclonic circulation lies over west Jharkhand and its neighbourhood between 3.1 and  5.8 km above mean sea level.

A trough runs from northeast Rajasthan to Bangladesh across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level with embedded cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan.

Light to moderate rainfall was observed at most places over the state during the last two days; while heavy rainfall was also recorded at isolated places of the state.

Monsoon was active over the state.

The highest rainfall of 82.4 mm was recorded at Raidih Block (Gumla). The highest maximum temperature of 33.0°C was recorded at Jamshedpur.
