Dhanbad, July 13: A land dispute case has turned into a political war between the BJP and the Congress in Dhanbad.

Close on the heels of an FIR against BJP MP Dhulu Mahto and his 11 supporters for the brutal attack on a woman and destroying her vegetable crops, a police complaint was lodged against Congress Bermo MLA Anup Singh in the same case.

The FIR against the Congress MLA Jayamangal Singh alias Anup Singh, Dhanbad district president Santosh Singh and 14 others has been lodged by Puja Devi who sells ‘puja’ materials near Ramraj Temple for destroying her shop.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) HP Janardhan told media persons that an FIR has been lodged against Dhulu Mahto and action would be taken after the probe. He also said that the written complaint of the second party is being investigated.

 FIR after CM’s intervention

The FIR against Dhulu Mahto was lodged 30 hours after the incident on an X post of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

Notably, supporters of Dhulu Mahto on Thursday afternoon allegedly damaged the vegetable crops of Neera Devi in Chitahi basti under Barora police station and thrashed her and family members when they went to protest.

Neera Devi alleged that Dhulu Mahto’s supporters beat up them as her husband Doman Mahto had gone to appear in the MP, MLA court as a witness in a case against the MP.

Demand to suspend all Barora police station officers

In the meantime, social activist and senior lawyer of Katras Bijay Jha demanded on Saturday the suspension of the entire Barora police team for not saving Neera Devi and taking action late.

“The FIR would not have been lodged against the MP had not the chief minister taken cognizance of Thursday’s incident. So, I urge the state government to suspend the entire police team as Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath suspended enter school teachers and staff after the electrocution of a student,” said Jha.
