Jharkhand Weather: Light rain forecast today, all districts figure in rain loss list

Jamshedpur, July 17: Light rain and generally cloudy sky are expected to prevail over Jharkhand today.

The monsoon currents became weak over Jharkhand resulting in restricted rainfall activity.

Met statistics suggested that all 24 districts still figure in the rain deficit list.

The state’s rain deficit as of today stood at 47 per cent. Against a normal of 348.9 mm, the state has so far received 186.1 mm of rain.

Satellite pictures suggested that a low-pressure area over southern Odisha and neighbourhood over south Chhattisgarh adjoining Vidarbha with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Jaisalmer, Kota, Raisen, centre of low pressure over south Chhattisgarh adjoining Vidarbha, Gopalpur and thence southeastwards to the central Bay of Bengal extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Weathermen said a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around July 19.
