UPSC lodges FIR and cancels candidature of Puja Khedkar over identity fraud

New Delhi, July 19: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) took action against probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar on Friday, including filing a police case against her (FIR) for allegedly using a false identity to make attempts in the civil services exam.

UPSC also issued a Show Cause Notice (SCN) aiming to revoke her candidature for the civil services examination-2022 and to ban her from future examinations and selection processes.

“The UPSC has conducted a detailed and thorough investigation in the misdemeanour of Ms. Puja Manorama Dilip Khedkar, a provisionally recommended candidate of the Civil Services Examination-2022,” UPSC said in an official statement.

UPSC said that the investigation found that Khedkar fraudulently exceeded the allowed number of attempts by altering her identity, including changing her name, her photo and signature, her parents’ names, her mobile number, email ID, and address.

“The UPSC has, therefore, initiated a series of actions against her, including criminal prosecution by filing a First Information Report (FIR) with the police authorities and has issued “a Show Cause Notice (SCN) for cancellation of her candidature of the Civil Services Examination-2022/debarment from future examinations/ selections, in accordance with the Rules of the Civil Services Examination-2022,” it added.
