Ranchi, July 26: The Jharkhand High Court today put a stay on the new appointment of the chairman of the State Food Commission.

A bench of Justice Deepak Roshan, while hearing a case filed by Himanshu Chaudhary, who had been removed  by the State government as State Food Commission Chairman earlier this month, directed the government to maintain status quo.

“No person should be appointed to the post of State Food Commission without the next order of the high court,” the court observed.

Senior advocate Ajit Kumar, arguing on behalf of Himanshu Chaudhary, among other issues, said that the government order was an open violation of natural justice. “Chaudhary was removed unilaterally without allowing him to explain his stand on the issue raised against him by the government,” he added.
