DPS Bokaro cultural fest ‘Tarang’ concludes

Ranchi, July 31: Jamuna and Raavi House were declared joint winners in the two-day Delhi Public School cultural competition ‘Tarang’ which concluded today.

In the six houses competition, Chenab and Ganga House shared the second position based on their performance.

Jhelum and Sutlej House got third position

A school official said Jhelum and Sutlej House got the third position jointly. The judges of the competition were Ankita Chakraborty (GGPS, Bokaro), Sanghmitra Chakraborty (Crescent Public School, Bokaro) and Amit Dasgupta (DPS Bokaro).

The students of all six houses exhibited their dancing talent reflecting India’s rich legacy of devotion, wisdom, mysticism and patriotism to raise the spirit of unity and traditions.

Lord Krishna’s childhood

The competition started with the folk dance of Karnataka and Kerala ‘Yakshgana’ presented by Chenab House reflecting Lord Krishna’s childhood followed by ‘Kolattam’- a folk dance of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu by Jamuna House depicting the spirituality and devotion to Lord Balaji.

Folk dance ‘Rojjo’

Jhelum House presented the rich culture of Odisha through folk dance ‘Rojjo’ while Ganga House performed ‘Laavni’ – a traditional dance of Maharashtra. Raavi House presented a dance form of Kerala ‘Kalaripayattu’ based on Indian martial arts while Sutlej House showcased ‘Bhangra’, the energetic dance of Punjab.

DPS principal Dr A S. Gangwar highly appreciated the performance of participants and praised their hard work, passion, practice, discipline and dedication towards cultural heritage.

“Dance has the power to communicate emotions, depict stories and bring people together,” he asserted.

Ananya Raj, head girl, welcomed the guests while Mansi Pandey, deputy head girl, DPS Bokaro proposed a vote of thanks.

Natasha Singh Nagi, Mridul Aman and Aditri conducted the function.
