Dhanbad, August 1: Eco Club of BIT Sindri students launched a large-scale plantation drive on the campus spread over 450 acres of land for the protection of the environment and climate.
Besides Eco Club members (BIT Sindri students), senior faculty members, retired professors and the director of the institution participated in the drive and encouraged the students while shedding light on the importance of plantation.
Retired Prof RN N Gupta led plantation drive
Retired Prof RN Gupta was the chief guest in the inaugural function and he led the drive from the front along with Eco Club office bearers.
BIT Sindri Director Dr Pankaj Rai inaugurated the ambitious campaign and said that plantation is not only a means of environmental protection but also an important part of promoting the community’s health and welfare.
“Keeping its importance in our life in mind we should make a joint effort to make this ambitious plantation drive a success,” said Dr Pankaj Rai.

Plants keep the earth evergreen
Eco Club professor in charge Dr BD Yadav, on the occasion, said that a tree gives us oxygen and keeps climate balance. “So, we should plant as many trees to keep the earth evergreen,” he added.
“Plantation is a major means for facing challenges of climate change and protection of the environment. It lays the plinth of a healthy and balanced environment for our new generation,” said Prof Yadav. While highly appreciating the Eco Club of students, he suggested that plantation drives should be made a mass movement so that the earth can be kept green for a healthy life.
Senior faculty members of BIT Sindri, including Dr DK Tanti ( HoD electrical engineering), Dr Vijay Pandey, (HoD mechanical engineering), Dr Manoj Kumar, Dr Veenit Shekhar, Dr RK Verma ( general warden), Abhishekh actively participated in plantation drive and appreciated the campaign of Eco Club members.
Eco Club president Neelaabh Sinha, vice-presidents- Madhu Kumari, and Aditya Jaiswal, secretary- Monu Kumar Saw and Sangeeta Kumari members Deepak Kumar and others made the campaign successful.
