Jamshedpur, August 5:  The shower sop during the past three to four days brought down the state’s rain deficit to 19 per cent as of today

In Met parlance, a rain deficit of 19 per cent is as good as normal.

Statistics revealed that against a normal of 538 mm, the state has so far received 435 mm, resulting in 19 per cent rain deficit.

The widespread and heavy rainfall during the past few days helped in bringing down the deficit figure.

According to statistics, for the first time after the onset of monsoon two districts – Ranchi and Dhanbad – achieved surplus rain of 9 per cent.

No rain alerts were issued for today.

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over north-eastern and north-western parts of the state tomorrow, August 6.

Heavy rainfall is also likely to occur at isolated places over western parts of the state on Wednesday, August 7.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through the centre of low pressure over southwest Rajasthan and neighbourhood, Ajmer, Gwalior, Sidhi, centre of the deep depression over southwest Bihar and adjoining northwest Jharkhand, Bankura, Canning thence southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal.

The east-west trough from north Rajasthan to south Assam was also running from the the deep depression over southwest Bihar and adjoining northwest Jharkhand to east Assam between 0.9 km and 4.5 km above the mean sea level.
