Mumbai, September 1: 6E831 Mumbai-Ranchi remains grounded at the Mumbai airport for more than one and a half hour after a passenger spotted a lizard in the aircraft.

The Indigo flight which was scheduled to depart at 1.35 pm was already delayed by an hour. However, when the flight was to take off a passenger raised an alarm that he saw a black glazing lizard. The ground staff as well as cabin crew members were pressed into service to locate the lizard said to be a poisonous one.

The pilot announced that the flight will take off only after the ground staff gave their clearance. The flight scheduled to reach Ranchi at 3.55 pm was still ground at the airport.

Having kept waiting for two hours, the Indigo authority deplaned all the passengers. Facing ordeal, they underwent a fresh security check. No Indigo authority was available to confirm the timing for the next flight.

The Mumbai airport is managed by Adani. Stranded passengers contacted the terminal manager, who kept assuring them to do something. But his assurance proved to be a false one only. Finally, the Indigo arranged an alternative flight, which finally took off for Ranchi at around 6.45 pm.
