Jamshedpur, Sept 3: A 45-year-old man Shakti Nath Singh alias W Singh was gunned down under Ulidih thana area in Mango late last night.

Brother of slain gangster Amarnath Singh, Shakti Singh was attacked while he was sitting in his car near his house at Shantinagar in Gaud Bustee in Mango.

Victim was a staff in irrigation department

The victim who was a staff in the irrigation department died on the spot as a lone assailant had pumped as many as seven bullets in his body.

Having shot the victim the assailant fled the densely-populated area on foot, triggering sensation in the locality.

Gang war likely the reason behind murder

Soon after the incident, the Ulidih thana OC reached the spot followed by city SP, Rishabh Garg. The police are trying to detect the assailant by taking CCTV footage, but unofficial sources revealed that it was a notorious criminal Mantu Singh, who has recently been released from jail, behind the murder.

It may be mentioned here that the victim’s brother Amarnath Singh was also murdered in Ulidih last year in sequel to a gang war which is continuing since the past couple of years in Mango.

The police sources said Shakti Nath Singh sustained seven bullets. The police have shifted the body to the MGM Medical College mortuary for postmortem having registered a case against unknown.

Significantly, a section of local residents had recently approached senior SP Kishore Kaushal and had lodged a complaint against the excesses committed by Shakti Nath Singh.
