Dhanbad, Sept 5: The prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, has launched a fortnight-long Swachhata Pakhwada campaign, starting with a campus cleaning drive at the Diamond Hostel.
The campaign, which began at 9:30 am, was led by Prof. Sanjeev Anand Sahu, Head of the Centre of Society Mission.
Senior faculty members, including Prof. Ananda Shankar Hati, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Dr Patitapawan Sahu, Associate Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering, a large number of students, and sanitary staff participated in the event.

“We carried out the cleaning of the nearby areas of the Diamond Hostel as the first event of the Swachhata Pakhwada. The drive will continue until September 15, during which a cleaning and plantation drive will be conducted at Madhya Vidyalaya Kusumdaha (Bagula Basti) on September 6, 2024,” said Prof. Sahu.
Prof. Sahu also mentioned, “During the Swachhata Pakhwada, besides cleanliness and plantation drives, we will also organize a drawing and painting competition, as well as a workshop for students at Madhya Vidyalaya Kusumdaha (Bagula Basti) and Ambedkar High School, Dhanbad on September 6.”
He further explained that a hostel cleanliness drive will be held at Amber Hostel on September 7. “The mess, kitchen, corridors, and overall cleanliness of different hostel floors will be addressed in collaboration with the hostel inmates,” added Prof. Sahu, giving more details about the upcoming activities of the campaign.
